Our leadership comprises a dedicated BOARD OF DIRECTORS and a committed EXECUTIVE TEAM. Together, they are responsible for strategic planning, financial oversight and fundraising.

Board Of Directors

Atty. Gloria Ananaba is a dedicated family, immigration and criminal defense Attorney. She is responsible for leading the board and serving as the direct supervisor of the chief executive, who is responsible for the day-to-day running of BFI.

Ms. Grace Omatu, RN is Responsible for proactively collaborating with board members to set up meetings, giving proper notice of any meetings, and promptly distributing materials like agendas and minutes. Contributes to vital record-keeping, helps protect the organization, and improves internal accountability

Responsible for managing the everyday activities of an BFI’s finances.

Executive Team

A BRIEF PROFILE OF PROFESSOR ANTHONY EJIOFOR

Professor Anthony Ejiofor holds a Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and the University of California, Riverside, where he was a World Health Organization Fellow. His impressive academic background is further enriched by fellowships from prestigious organizations, including the African Biosciences Network (ABN), British National Council for Microbiology (BNCM), Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in Germany, the International Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), and the National Science and Engineering Council of Canada (NSERC).

With nearly four decades of teaching and research experience, Professor Ejiofor has been a leading academic in industrial microbiology and biotechnology. His career has taken him to Nigeria, Germany, Canada, Israel, Zimbabwe, The United Kingdom, Italy and the United States, where he has contributed significantly to his field through numerous publications in reputable professional journals. He retired as a full-time Professor of Microbiology from Tennessee State University, Nashville, Tennessee, after serving as a visiting professor at the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.

In addition to his academic accomplishments, Professor Ejiofor is a prominent community leader. He served as the Executive Director and, later, Chairman of the Executive Board of World Igbo Congress. He was also the founding Vice President of the Anambra State Association, USA, and the current Chairman of the Joint Body’s Global Igbo Values Reorientation Committee. Furthermore, he is the founding Chairman of the Umunya Professionals Association. The Umunya Professionals Association is a community-driven organization that brings together skilled and accomplished individuals from Umunya, Anambra State, Nigeria, to foster personal and collective development. Its members are professionals across various fields, including medicine, law, engineering, business, education, and the arts. The association aims to support the growth and advancement of Umunya’s people through mentorship, networking, and collaborative initiatives. Its core objectives include providing educational empowerment, facilitating professional development, engaging in community service projects, and promoting cultural preservation. The Umunya Professionals Association seeks to create a strong, empowered community that contributes positively to local and global progress.

Prof. Ejiofor has been recognized for his contributions to education and community service, being named in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers in both 2000 and 2010. He has also received honorary declarations from the cities of Little Rock, AR, and Detroit, MI, for his outstanding community service.

A visionary leader, Prof. Ejiofor is known for his organizational management, strategic planning, financial transparency, and excellent public relations.

He is married to Nonye Ejiofor, a financial consultant, and together they have three children.

Has various responsibilities including ensuring the mission of the organization is executed, its programs are carried out in support of that mission, its finances are managed to carry out that mission. Speecifically:

  • Ensuring compliance

The president is responsible for ensuring that the organization’s activities are compliant with its mission. This includes staying current with state registrations to avoid penalties and late fees.

  • Managing the organization

The president leads, manages, and develops the organization’s employees, volunteers, and culture.

  • Developing and implementing programs

The president develops, implements, monitors, and assesses the organization’s programs and their impact.

  • Managing finances

The president develops, implements, monitors, and assesses the organization’s financial management practices and budgeting.

  • Managing fundraising

The president develops, implements, monitors, and assesses the organization’s fundraising practices.

  • Supporting the board

The president supports the board and its committees in carrying out their governance functions.

  • Cultivating relationships

The president develops and maintains relationships with donors, funders, supporters, and other stakeholders.

  • Communicating externally

The president ensures effective external communications about the organization’s mission, priorities, and activities.

PROFILE OF MRS. NONYE EJIOFOR

Nonye Ejiofor is a highly motivated caring individual with over 20 years of working in a non-profit organization. She is very comfortable in interacting with individuals from diverse background educating, empowering, counseling, training them for quality and excellence in life. She is a strong advocate for the children, youths, poor families, widows, elderly, mentally challenged, and the immigrant community. She has distinguished herself in working with the less privileged in America and in Nigeria. She has been working with elementary schools distributing school supply and high school students educating them about HIV/AIDS in eastern part of Nigeria since 2002. She has also contributed to the leadership services of Metro Nashville Government Nashville of Davidson County. She served in the Mayor Karl Dean’s New Americans Advisory Committee. She is a member of Leadership Nashville class of 2006 Served in the Diversity Committee promoting harmony in diversity for Nashville and Davidson County. She is a member of Davidson Group. Nonye Ejiofor also served as a Commissioner with Metro Human Relations Commission under Mayors Bill Purcell and Karl Dean. Her duties included Management core project, Building Strength from Diversity, former Chairperson, Advocacy and Community Affairs Committee and a member, Public Compliant Hearing Committee. Ms. Ejiofor has served in many boards including American Association of Refugees and Immigrant Women, Women In Number (WIN), Former NCCJ, Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition. She also served as a member of diversity committee of CABLE, Nashville and a member of EBICARE Human Rights Committee.  She is a volunteer speaker on diversity and on cultural integration of immigrants and refugees, Breast cancer awareness and education workshop instructor and advocate for the importance of self-breast health and early detection of breast cancer and economic empowerment workshops on how to start and run a business. She has been professionally recognized with an award as Bank of America Local Hero. (Bank of America Neighborhood Excellence Initiative) She was a nominee of Athena Award, an award honoring outstanding women leaders for their career successes, service to community and encouragement of women. She holds a Bachelor of Education and Master of Education in Counseling. She is married with three children.

Nonye Ejiofor is ultimately responsible for justifying the impact and performance of BFI to the board. Runs many of BFI’s day-to-day operations and involved in the direction and future strategy of the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES AT BFI

Strategic planning: Developing and implementing a strategic plan for the organization 

Identifying opportunities: Finding new ways for the organization to grow 

Setting priorities: Establishing priorities for projects within the organization 

Building relationships: Maintaining and developing relationships with community leaders and donors 

Evaluating effectiveness: Checking the effectiveness of the organization’s strategies and initiatives 

Fundraising: Working with the board and staff to create a fundraising plan, and soliciting major gifts 

Compliance: Staying up to date with state registrations to avoid penalties and late fees 

Community engagement: Promoting community programming, networking with other CEOs, and forming partnerships with other organizations 

Leadership: Sharing the board’s vision for the organization and inspiring the organization to succeed 

Planning and coordination of annual programs, activities, and events. Oversees integration of programs and how the program is being upheld.
