PROPOSAL FOR BASTION FOUNDATION, INC.
EXPANDING OPERATIONS IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE: SUPPORT PROGRAM FOR YOUNG SINGLE MOTHERS

Introduction
Bastion Foundation, Inc. is committed to empowering vulnerable populations and fostering resilience through targeted support programs. To build on our existing programs, we propose expanding our operations in Middle Tennessee by launching a dedicated initiative to support young single mothers. This program will act as a complement to government assistance, addressing the unique challenges faced by young single mothers and empowering them to build sustainable futures for themselves and their children.

Background and Need
Young single mothers face a range of challenges, including economic insecurity, limited access to healthcare, affordable childcare, education, and reliable housing. These obstacles can hinder personal growth, limit career advancement, and impact their children’s future. While government programs provide essential resources, many young single mothers continue to experience gaps in support that could enable them to achieve greater self-sufficiency and stability.

Program Objectives
The goal of this initiative is to provide a holistic support system for young single mothers that addresses their immediate needs while equipping them with the tools and resources needed to thrive independently. The specific objectives are:
Provide Financial Assistance and Emergency Support: Offer small grants to cover emergency expenses, transportation, and essentials like groceries, utilities, and healthcare costs.
Access to Affordable Childcare and Parenting Resources: Partner with local childcare providers to subsidize childcare services, ensuring that young mothers can pursue work, education, or job training without the burden of unaffordable childcare.
Skills Training and Job Placement Support: Provide access to career counseling, job readiness workshops, and partnerships with local businesses for job placement. This component aims to build sustainable economic independence.
Mental Health and Wellness Support: Provide access to mental health resources, counseling, and peer support groups, helping mothers manage stress, build confidence, and feel empowered in their parenting roles.
Mentorship and Life Skills Development: Connect young mothers with mentors who offer guidance on life skills, financial literacy, and personal development to help them set and achieve their long-term goals.

Program Implementation
This initiative will be designed in close consultation with stakeholders, including community organizations, social service providers, and government agencies, ensuring that it fills existing gaps in support and enhances the services available to young single mothers.
Partnerships and Collaborations: Establish partnerships with local childcare providers, job training centers, mental health services, and social support organizations to leverage their expertise and services.
Community Outreach and Engagement: Work with community centers, healthcare providers, and local agencies to identify and engage young single mothers who may benefit from the program.
Funding and Sustainability: Secure funding from private donors, grants, and community contributions to ensure the program’s sustainability. Additionally, explore sponsorship opportunities to reduce costs for specific program components, such as childcare and job training.
Evaluation and Accountability: Develop clear metrics to evaluate the program’s effectiveness, including tracking participants’ job placement rates, income improvements, childcare accessibility, and overall satisfaction with the program.

Expected Outcomes
The program’s success will be measured by the following outcomes:
   •       Improved economic self-sufficiency and job placement for participants
   •       Increased access to affordable childcare services
   •       Enhanced mental health and well-being for young single mothers
   •       Reduced need for emergency financial assistance
   •       Long-term improvements in participants’ quality of life and parenting confidence

   •       Childcare Subsidies: $30,000
   •       Skills Training and Job Placement Support: $20,000
